Officers responded to the crash around 8 p.m. in front of the Economy Inn in the West Atlantic City section of the township, authorities said.
The driver took off, and police are still working to identify both the pedestrian and the vehicle involved.
The westbound lanes of the Black Horse Pike are shut down as the investigation continues. Authorities are asking drivers to avoid the area and expect closures for several hours.
